1. Why you are eligible
Trillium is paying for your Senior Home Safety Specialist® (SHSS) certification, so there is no cost to you. Eligibility is limited to people on the list Trillium provides Age Safe. Use the email address on that list when you enroll. If it is not there, contact your Trillium program contact.
2. Enrolling uses a seat
When you enroll, Trillium uses one of the seats it has paid for, whether or not you go on to finish. If you do not intend to take the course, do not enroll. Tell your Trillium program contact instead so the seat goes to someone else.
3. What you get
Which course you are enrolled in comes from the list Trillium gave us. Most people take the full SHSS course, currently about five hours of self-paced online instruction. If you are already certified, you take the annual recertification course instead, which is about two hours. Either way there is an assessment, and when you pass you receive a certificate, the SHSS emblem, and access to the Age Safe® app.
4. Recertification is required every year
SHSS certification is current for one year at a time. Annual recertification is what keeps it active, and it is what the word renewal means here. Age Safe’s published recertification price is $97 per person per year. The certification is issued to you as an individual, not to Trillium, and your completion record is yours.
5. While Trillium is sponsoring you
Trillium pays for your annual recertification, so it costs you nothing, for as long as you remain affiliated with Trillium and their agreement with Age Safe is in effect. You use the Age Safe® app through Trillium’s organizational account. You can review your own assessments at any time, and so can Trillium’s program administrators, along with your training progress. Assessments you perform in the course of your work for Trillium are part of that work and stay in Trillium’s account.
6. If your work with Trillium ends
The certification stays with you, and so does your completion record, but Trillium’s sponsorship ends and your account moves to a personal Age Safe® account. Work you did for Trillium stays with Trillium, including client and homeowner information. Keeping the credential current is then yours: you pay your own annual recertification at Age Safe’s published price to stay certified and to keep using the emblem and the Age Safe® app. If you do not recertify, your certification goes inactive. You stop describing yourself as currently certified, you stop using the emblem, and your app access ends. Your completion record remains and you can reactivate later by recertifying.
7. What Age Safe reports to Trillium
Because Trillium is sponsoring your certification, Age Safe shares your enrollment, your progress, your completion date, and your certification status with Trillium’s program administrators.
8. Working in Trillium’s account
While Trillium is sponsoring you, you work in the app through their organizational account, the way you would with any professional tool an organization provides. Their program administrators can see the assessments, Home Scores, and reports created there, along with your activity in the app, and they manage app access for their team, including granting, adjusting, and ending it. Assessments you perform for Trillium stay in Trillium’s account.
9. Homeowner and client information
Assessments contain private information about real people and their homes. Use the app only for assessments you are authorized to perform, follow Trillium’s policies and any privacy law that applies to you, and do not share, export, or reuse that information for anything other than the work you were asked to do.
10. Your account is yours alone
Do not share your login. Complete the course and the assessment yourself. Do not copy, record, screen-capture, or redistribute course material, and do not use it to build a competing program. Age Safe may cancel your enrollment and revoke your certification, without replacement, if you do.
11. What this certification is, and is not
SHSS is a training credential. It is not a professional license, not a clinical qualification, and does not replace any license, scope-of-practice limit, or supervision required by law where you work. Nothing in the course is medical, clinical, or legal advice. You are responsible for working within your own qualifications.
12. Using the emblem
While your certification is current you may use the SHSS emblem in your professional profile, your email signature, and your marketing, following Age Safe’s usage standards. Do not alter it, and do not use it to suggest a license, endorsement, or affiliation you do not have.
13. Your information
Age Safe collects your name, work email, job title, and work location to create your account, deliver the course, issue your certification, support you, and share the reporting described in Section 7 with Trillium. Age Safe does not sell your information. You hold your own Age Safe account and are able to keep your certification records, meaning your certificate and SHSS certification status, should your work with Trillium end.
14. How you accept
Checking the box and submitting is your electronic signature and has the same effect as signing on paper. Age Safe records the date and time and makes that record available to Trillium. Questions: support@agesafeamerica.com or (877) 357-7233.
